Painters’ Hall – The Court Room

Have you considered Painters Hall for your upcoming event? One of the three livery companies within the Graysons portfolio, it could be the perfect venue for you, with walls lined with the rich history of the Worshipful Company of Painters-Stainers’.

Painters Hall is located a short walk from St Pauls Cathedral and has excellent transport links, from Mansion House (2 minute walk), Bank (6 minute Walk) and Cannon Street (5 minute walk), making it an ideal City location.

This venue compromises of 3 historic rooms with The Court Room being the second largest room and can hold 50 people for a dinner reception, 70 for theatre style conference and up to 150 people for reception drinks. The Court Room benefits from two sliding doors allowing you to separate your event into a lunch/buffet station room and the main event, or extra break out room if needed.

Whilst the original halls have burnt down twice (the first time was in The Great Fire of London in 1666 and the second time was during The Second World War in 1941), they have been rebuilt with the intention of keeping their historic elegance.

Historically, The Court Room housed the Charter meetings for the Painters and Stainers’ Livery. The Charters are contracts that bind the livery company as an official corporate body and can only be withdrawn through legal processes of The Crown.

Three Charters can be located within The Court Room, the original granted by Queen Elizabeth I in 1581 (seen in the picture below) and most recently an additional Charter was granted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1981.
